Un 22 de agosto de 1979 fallecía Teresa Vergara, la mujer que cuidó a Pablo buena parte de su vida, fue empleada doméstica de la familia y la niñera de los hermanos Escobar-Gaviria.Teresita era una mujer robusta y de temperamento fuerte, apenas sabía juntar las letras del abecedario pero tenía una astucia y sagacidad que envidiaría cualquier político. Nacida en Rionegro, llega a la familia a los pocos meses que nace Alba Marina y los acompañó por el resto de su vida.
Tenía una gran capacidad para amar y para odiar, pobre de aquel que no fuera de su agrado, pero bendito quien reciba su afecto ya que daría la vida por cualquiera a quien amara.
El amor de su vida siempre fue Pablo, se las ingeniaba para darle siempre su comida favorita, se enteraba más que nadie de sus travesuras y se las arreglaba para que nadie en la casa se entere, fue su cómplice y defensora número uno, él se merecía ese amor porque siempre la trató con mucho cariño y respeto.
Falleció de cáncer en el Barrio El Estadio de Medellín y sus restos están en los Jardines Montesacro junto a la familia Escobar, mas precisamente entre Luis Fernando y Doña Hermilda.

She died of cancer in the Barrio El Estadio of Medellín and her remains are in the Montesacro Gardens with the Escobar family, more precisely between Luis Fernando and Doña Hermilda.
